Kids Against Hunger Meal Packaging

by Curtis Honeycutt

We were jokingly referring to this event as “Weekend of Packing” because it ended up being such a big event like Weekend of Service.

It was a fantastic weekend…over six shifts, close to 1,000 volunteers showed up to work hard and pack meals.

Our goal was to pack 400,000 meals through Kids Against Hunger to send to Haiti. Always up for the challenge, Grace volunteers packed 440,856 meals! Incredible!

The blue box truck (with about 800 boxes of food plus other supplies) is headed to Miami tomorrow. From there, it will ship by sea to Dominican Republic. A driver from Nehemiah Vision Ministries will pick it up there and drive it directly to Chambrun, Haiti, where the food will be distributed.

The remaining 1,200 boxes of food will head to Haiti on a truck very soon.

Over the next few days we’ll post some photos from the weekend’s packing event.

Thanks to everyone who supported this event, from those who gave sacrificially as part of the special offering for Haiti to those who gave hours of your time over the last two days. This food will literally save lives of people in Haiti who have nothing to eat. We thanked God today to be a part of a church whose heart beats for the least of these. It’s a privilege to worship and serve with you all.
